Craft Room

You remember back in this post where I was sort of bad mouthing Hubs for not making good on his promise of building me a farmhouse table to go in our big empty dining room. Well, that wasn't completely fair, because honestly, I was the one that had to decide on all aspects of the table, and he would just build it. Well, I was thinking a while back that I didn't want a farmhouse table right now, considering we do not know where we will be going next, but are hoping it will be about 1,000 miles west, and I really don't want to move more than I have to!

So the other day after opening my closet and my scrapbook stuff falling out on me for about the 318th time, I decided maybe we should turn the big yellow space into a craft room!

Here is the huge empty space (visible from pretty much all areas of the house) that has looked like this since we moved in, in June .

So I began looking for the "perfect table" to fill it.

Of course, I found it on Pottery Barn, for only $1200 + shipping + stools. Yea right!

That thought then morphed into an inspiration and I started looking on Craigslist for something that I could "transform" into this. After no luck with that it dawned on me that I am married to someone pretty skilled in carpentry and who owns lots of tools! So then I had to figure out how to "convince" him to build something for me in the middle of being busy with school. Turns out all I had to do was ask ;) (Sidenote: My advice to young girls, marry a boy who can build things and fix things, it really will make your life more fun and easy ;)

So then I made a quick trip to Alaska, via a click of the mouse, to visit my girl Ana White, and found plans for the perfect craft table! I ran it by Hubs, and he said "That looks easy" (yeessss!!) And off to Lowes we went. Here is the wood all laid out prior to cuts.

Here are the boys working hard. I was sitting in the swing, "supervising", petting puppies, and sipping on a cold beer, ha!

Progress

And, The finished product!!

And as if that wasn't enough, Hubs went ahead and built me some floating shelves too! (He either really loves me, or was in extreme procrastination mode from school, or both :)

Hope you enjoyed the tour! Happy Crafting!

Colorado Christmas

For Christmas this year, we all went to Breckenridge for the week! It was super fun and relaxing (when we weren't trying to brave the grocery store or the slopes)! There was abnormally low snow this year, so much of the mountain was closed. When our plane landed in Denver it looked kind of like Texas with the lack of snow on the ground, except of course for the Rockies in the background, ok, that's not like Texas at all.

Christmas was sort of a whirlwind for me. I had to work through Friday, the 23. So I got off work at 3:30, caught my 5:00 flight out of Savannah, had a 4 hour delay in Atlanta and finally made it to Little Rock at 1 AM. Then had to drive from Little Rock to Texarkana (well Drew and my Dad drove!) We spent the next 2 days having Christmas with everyone and their grandma (literally, ha!) Then we drove back to Little Rock early Monday morning (4 am to be exact) to catch our plane to Denver!! And, that's just the getting there.

The last night of our trip, we were eating in town when I got a call/voicemail from a random number. Often I just ignore random numbers, because therapy recruiting companies call me all the time. Good thing I decided to listen to this voicemail at 10pm, because it was Continental politely calling to inform us that our plane which was to leave out at 10Am the next morning had been CANCELLED!! They were also polite enough to tell us that we could go online and find another flight to book.

After not too much headache, we finally made it home to Texas about 8 hours later than expected, and we had to fly into Dallas but our car was in Little Rock! So the next morning, Mom took us to Little Rock to get our car, and then we began the day long drive back to Savannah. Then the next day I started back to work...Whew, makes me tired just thinking about it!!

I'm really not complaining! I am so thankful we were all able to spend Christmas together in Colorado doing one of my favorite things, snow skiing. I also got in lots of cuddle time with the twinsies!!

Here are some action shots from the slopes...I always take my camera with the intention of taking lots of pictures, but once I get out there in my 17 layers I never feel like de-layering to get to my camera...Thankfully, Alison's not as lazy as I am, therefore we have these pictures to enjoy!

Bathing Beauties!

I'm so behind in blogging!!

I haven't posted since Halloween. The sad thing is that I don't even have a good excuse, just lazy I guess. But....I'm about to blog several post in a row.

This one is definitely out of order, in that these pictures were taken over Christmas break, but how cute are these two in the tub together! This was actually the 1st bath they took together!!

Those sweet smiles melt my heart!!!

Eat, Drink & Be Scary!

So I decided a while back I wanted to have a Halloween party. I've never really been that into Halloween, but I am into parties! I knew it would be too difficult to have a Christmas party with Drew and his classmate's schedules, so Halloween it was!

I had a lot of fun planning/preparing, and even more fun at the party! This post will be more pictures and less words, cause I'm lazy like that :)
